Meet the founder
Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the islands of the Caribbean are the ancestral and unceded homelands of the Taíno, Kalinago (Carib), Arawak, Ciboney, and other Indigenous peoples who lived in relationship with this land and sea long before European colonization. We recognize the devastating impact of conquest, enslavement, and forced displacement that these communities endured and we honor their resilience, as their descendants and cultural legacy continue to live on across the islands today. We also acknowledge the millions of West Africans forcibly brought to this region through the transatlantic slave trade, whose labor, culture, and spirit are woven into the fabric of Caribbean identity. In this space, we commit to honoring these histories with humility and to supporting the ongoing self-determination and cultural survival of Indigenous and Afro-Caribbean peoples.
